List of grape varieties

Mayolet is an autochthonous red wine variety of the Italian Aosta Valley . It is mainly grown in Charvensod and Saint-Pierre . The vineyards are at a height of up to 700  m .

Together with the Petit-Rouge variety , it is blended to make the Denominazione di origine controllata - Torette wine . The early ripening variety produces medium-heavy wines that are poor in tannins . It is very hardy, but susceptible to raw rot . A spontaneous cross with the Petit Rouge variety resulted in the Rouge du Pays variety  (Cornalin du Valais, Walliser Cornalin).

A study published in 2002 suggests that the Mayolet, Petit-Rouge and Vien de Nus varieties are closely related and likely descended from the same ancestors.
