Wolfgang Wishes (athlete)

Wolfgang Wünsche (* 1926 ; † 2008 ) was a German athlete and journalist .

Career

Wolfgang Wünsche comes from Lower Saxony. Since he wanted to do competitive sports on a regular basis, he first became a member of MTV Braunschweig , where he trained in athletics in both running competitions and long jump. Because of his good performance in the long jump, he took part in the first German athletics championships after the Second World War in 1946 and finished second with a distance of 6.66 m and won a silver medal.

From 1947 Wolfgang Wünsche studied in Göttingen . As a member of Schwarz-Gelb Göttingen , he again took part in the German Athletics Championships in 1947, but was only sixth in the long jump with 6.66 m. In 1950 he then took part in the German University Championships. In the 4x100 m relay, he was with the relay in the line-up wishes, Heinz Krebs , Ulrich Popplow and Jan Berghaus German university champion and was for it on 29./30. July 1950 awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf by Federal President Theodor Heuss .

Wish worked as a journalist after graduation; u. a. For Die Zeit he provided numerous amounts on sport-political issues. He was also the author of the book Athletes, Duels, Records , published in 1971 by Südwest-Verlag Munich.
