Wolfgang Weiß (theologian, 1955)

Wolfgang Weiß (born January 3, 1955 ) is a German Protestant theologian .

Life

He studied theology in Saarbrücken and Mainz and then worked as a research assistant in Mainz. After receiving his doctorate in 1985/1986 at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and his habilitation in 1991, he has been teaching since 1992 as a professor of Protestant theology with a focus on the New Testament at the University of Oldenburg .

His main research interests are New Testament exegesis and hermeneutics with a focus on the social-historical networking of ancient texts including the intertextuality of New Testament texts.
