Wolfgang Weinreich

Wolfgang Franz Weinreich (* 1937 ) is a German pilot , flight instructor and association official . Among other things, he was President of the German Aero Club (DAeC) and the World Air Sports Association Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI).

Weinreich was a flight captain for Lufthansa . In 1990 he resigned as head of the Boeing 747-200 fleet and head of department. He was also the captain of the Ju 52 "D-AQUI" . In 1991 he landed as DAeC Vice President with Aunt Ju at the Schönhagen airfield , the occasion was the first flight to Germany after reunification .

Weinreich has been an active glider pilot since 1952 and was later trained as a glider and powered flight instructor. In addition, he has been involved in air sports for many years . In 1991 he became Vice President of the German Aero Club and in 1996 of the FAI. Weinreich was President and has been Honorary President of the European Air Sports Association “Europe Air Sports” (EAS) since 2000. From 1996 to 2002 he was elected President of the German Aero Club, an office he resigned in autumn 2000.

From September 2000 to October 2004 Weinreich was the first German President of the World Air Sports Association FAI in Lausanne . He then took over the presidency of the traditional community of the old eagles from September 2004 to May 2016 . In May and November 2016, Weinreich was awarded the honorary presidency of the Alte Adler and the German Aero Club.

Weinreich is married to the five-time European glider champion Gisela Weinreich . The couple has two sons.
