Wolfgang Wiegand

Wolfgang Wiegand (born May 8, 1940 in Nordhausen ) is a legal scholar. He is originally from Germany , but his teaching activities took place mainly in Switzerland . His areas of expertise are private law , property law , medical liability law and banking law.

Life

Wiegand studied law and economics at the Free University of Berlin and the University of Munich from 1961 to 1966 , in 1966 he passed his first state examination in law , and in 1970 his second state examination ( assessor examination ). From 1966 to 1976 he was an assistant at the Law Faculty of the University of Munich, in 1972 he was awarded a Dr. iur. PhD . In 1976 he was for the subjects German and European history of law , civil law and civil procedure law habilitation .

From 1977 Wiegand was professor of private law, history of private law, banking and commercial law at the University of Bern and director of the Civil Studies Department at the University of Bern. In 1981/82 he held the office of Dean of the Faculty of Law and Economics at the University of Bern. From 1993 to 2005 he was also Director of the Institute for Banking Law and Head of the Department of Private Law at the University of Bern. In 2005 he retired from the university, after which he was a visiting professor at the University of Lucerne from 2005 to 2006 .

Wiegand was the founder in 1983 and has been the editor in charge of the magazine Recht since then . Journal for legal training and practice , Bern. He is also the scientific editor of the online specialist publication Jusletter .
