Eugen Wolfgang ( baron since 1816 ) von Herder (born April 16, 1810 in Freiberg ; † March 8, 1853 at Rauenstein Castle ) was a German geologist , manor owner and politician .

The only son of the Saxon chief miner and geologist Sigismund August Wolfgang Freiherr von Herder studied at the Bergakademie Freiberg from 1829 and joined the Corps Montania.

He and his wife Susanne Sophie geb. On October 2, 1843, Hähnel signed a purchase agreement for the Rauenstein castle and manor with Lengefeld and Marterbüschel as well as the Reifland manor and all accessories with his uncle Christian August Hähnel , who had acquired this property in 1816. A purchase price of 60,000 Thalers is specified for the properties.

Herder worked as a mining authority auditor and later a senior mining authority assessor in Freiberg . As a representative of the 63rd, 64th and 65th electoral districts, he belonged to the first chamber of the Saxon state parliament in 1849/50 , where he acted as the chamber's secretary. He was born with Therese Wolf, who inherited the property in Rauenstein from him. She sold the manor to Wilhelm Freiherr von Herder in 1856 .
