Reifland is a district of the Saxon town of Pockau-Lengefeld in the Erzgebirge district .

The forest hoof village of Reifland is located about 2.5 kilometers northeast of Lengefeld in the Ore Mountains . To the east of the village is the Saidenbach dam , to the west the Flöha borders the corridor. The Röthenbach Forest extends north of Reifland . The district road 8110 Lengefeld – Lippersdorf runs through the village, and there is a connection to Eppendorf in the north via a municipal road .

history
The first written mention of the place dates from December 18, 1403 as Rifland in a letter to the Burgrave of Leisnig , in which Fritzold von Polenz renounced his goods in Rifland . The place name can be interpreted as a settlement "on early morning, long-lasting land covered with frost".
With the Reformation in 1539, Reifland became part of the Lengefeld parish. Not until 1928 was a cemetery with a chapel laid out. A teacher is mentioned for the first time in 1656. A school building was erected in 1781, which was replaced by a new building in 1851.
In 1680 the plague raged in the village . Johann Major, pastor of Reifland at the time, believed that he would soon become a victim of the disease, as his family was also affected. In the face of an imminent death, he asked his official brother Christoph Rümmler from the neighboring town of Lippersdorf for Holy Communion . Rümmler did not dare - or was not allowed - to go to Reifland because of the risk of infection. So both met halfway between the villages and performed the sacraments there. Both survived the plague. A stone and a plague column erected in 1880 at the approximate location of the scene remind of the incident .
In 1704, the Fahrpost was opened on the old trade route from Freiberg to Annaberg . In the course of this, a full-mile pillar was erected in 1723 at the exit from the town towards Lengefeld.
In 1911/12, Reifland was connected to the electricity network, and a central water supply system was built in 1935/36.
In 1875 the place with the station "Reifland" received a railway connection to the Flöhatalbahn . In 1905 it was upgraded to a station and in 1939 it received the "Reifland-Wünschendorf", which is still valid today.
On January 1, 1999, Reifland was incorporated into Lengefeld.

The Lengefeld-Rauenstein and Reifland-Wünschendorf stops are on the Flöha – Marienberg / Olbernhau railway line . The RB 81 Chemnitz – Olbernhau-Grünthal line of the Erzgebirgsbahn stops at the stations every hour Monday to Friday and every two hours on weekends.
