The first written mention of the place dates from 1549 when Stolczerhayn August Schumann mentions Stolzenhain in 1824 in the State Lexicon of Saxony regarding, among other things:

"It has little field, is pastured to Lengefeld, feeds itself partly with the manufacture of wooden tableware, also with spinning and weaving, and is also called Stolzenberg in older news."

On May 1, 1839, Wünschendorf was separated from the manor there and from then on formed an independent municipality with the Stolzenhain district.

In the work "New Saxon Church Gallery" it says about Stolzenhain u. a .:

“Stolzenhain [= steep forest], which forms a community with Wünschendorf, is separated from that by the 545 meter high Galgenberg and is 425 meters high near the steep slope of the Flöha. It consists of the farms of eight hereditary gardeners, while "the new houses" that belong to Wünschendorf are still not far from the village. The village has not grown for more than 300 years, as far as the number of farms is concerned; for "Eight Gertner" are already listed in the hereditary book of the Rauenstein office from 1591, "all of whom have moved from the Rauenstein district to the fief and are at the same rate."

In 1924 the place was connected to the public electricity network.

Until December 31, 1998 Stolzenhain belonged to Wünschendorf , with which it formed the municipality Wünschendorf. On January 1, 1999, Wünschendorf was incorporated with Stolzenhain to Lengefeld.
