Wolfhard Schlosser
Wolfhard Schlosser (born June 21, 1940 in Breslau ) is a German astronomer and author.
Life
Schlosser studied physics , mathematics , astronomy and geophysics at the University of Hamburg and received his doctorate in 1966 . From 1969, Schlosser was employed at the Ruhr University Bochum and completed his habilitation there in 1973. In 2005 he retired.
Schlosser was on the advisory board of the founding committee of the German South Pole Station . He was project manager and member of the scientific advisory board of the Second German Spacelab Mission and ESA representative for the International Space Station (ISS). As an astronomer, he was involved in scientific studies of the Nebra Sky Disc . Furthermore, Schlosser is co-founder of the Société Européene pour l'Astronomie dans la Culture (SEAC), a society for archaeoastronomy .
On March 30, 2010 an asteroid was named after him: (58896) Schlosser .
