Wolfram Freiherr von Rotenhan

Wolfram Freiherr von Rotenhan (born February 27, 1887 in Berlin ; † April 17, 1950 ) was an officer and later General Secretary of the German Red Cross (DRK).

He began his military career in 1904 with his training at the Hauptkadettenanstalt in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin. After he was promoted to officer in 1909, he retired from military service a year later for health reasons.

He then began to study philosophy, science and law. After completing his studies, he was deputy head of department at the DRK between 1914 and 1924, and in 1918 he became department head for refugee welfare and prisoners of war at the DRK. From May 31, 1924 to July 1, 1937 he was Secretary General of the DRK.
