Wolfram Mittelmeier (born March 9, 1959 in Berlin ) is a German doctor and professor of orthopedics at the University of Rostock . His main research interests are orthopedics and orthopedic surgery, biomechanics and biomaterials.

Life

Wolfram Mittelmeier was born on March 9, 1959 in Berlin as the son of the orthopedist Heinz Mittelmeier and the orthodontist Edith Mittelmeier. After completing his high school diploma in 1979 and completing his military service, Mittelmeier studied human medicine in Leuven , Giessen and the Saarland University from 1980 . He then went to the Surgical University Clinic of the University of Saarland for two years, and in 1990 he moved to the Orthopedic University Clinic Erlangen, where he worked until 1993.

In 1992 he received his doctorate. med. with a thesis on the subject of new bone formation in the poorly replaced camp with a cancellous mineral bone substitute material and autologous marrow inoculation. Animal experiments with intra-individual comparison and clinical application .

After working in Erlangen, Wolfram Mittelmeier moved to the Clinic for Orthopedics at the University of Lübeck . In 1994 Wolfram Mittelmeier passed his specialist examination. In Lübeck he was senior physician from 1995 and senior senior physician from 1996. At the same time he was the senior physician in charge of the orthopedic department in the Priwall / Travemünde hospital.

In 1997, Mittelmeier moved to Munich as a senior physician at the Clinic for Orthopedics and Sports Orthopedics at the Technical University of Munich . Here he completed his habilitation in 1999 with a thesis on the topic: Biomechanical investigations into the primary stability of intramedullary compression osteosynthesis on the femur .

In 2003 Wolfram Mittelmeier accepted a call from the University of Rostock for the field of orthopedics and took over the provisional management of the orthopedic clinic and polyclinic of the Rostock University Medical Center. In 2004 he was appointed associate professor by the Technical University of Munich. He was appointed to the orthopedic chairs in Rostock in 2004 and Marburg in 2004 and to Frankfurt in 2006, but remained as C4 professor and clinic director of the Orthopedic Clinic and Polyclinic in Rostock.

In 2008, in Rostock, he developed the basis for the EndoCert quality assurance project , which has been implemented nationwide since October 2012 after review by the bodies of the specialist association DGOOC . In 2009 he set up the teaching group of the DGOU , which in 2011 developed the first catalog of learning objectives for orthopedics & trauma surgery in the practical year of medical studies. In 2012 he implemented the working group for implant safety of the specialist society DGOU.
