Club history

1991 season

Foundation of the Wolfsburg Yahoos of TSV Wolfsburg eV 1950. In the same year they won the championship in the national league.

1992 season

Association league champion and promotion to 2. Bundesliga North / West.

1993 season

The Yahoos achieved relegation.

1994 season

The Americans Derek Clements and Mike Koalska strengthened the team. The season ended with second place, tied with the first, but in direct comparison the Hannover Regents were ahead.

1995 season

With Mike Roehl from the USA, the team was again strengthened with an American. The club was runner-up again, level on points with the first, but the direct comparison won the Paderborn Untouchables . The construction of a club's own baseball facility in the former West open-air swimming pool began.

1996 season

The 1996 season was the most successful season in the history of the Yahoos from TSV Wolfsburg . The Yahoos were sovereign champions of the 2nd Bundesliga North / West and would have been promoted directly to the 1st Bundesliga under normal circumstances. But since the German Baseball and Softball Association had decided to reform the league, the Yahoos had to be relegated to the 1st Bundesliga. There you should have reached 3rd of 6th places for the ascent. It was 4th place in the end. In Berlin, however, four clubs merged, and so the Yahoos slipped as successors into the baseball upper house.

1997 season

The team achieved relegation, albeit only in the relegation. The Yahoos were the first time cup winners of the Lower Saxony Baseball & Softball Association . Thus one had qualified for participation in the German Baseball Cup 1998.

1998 season

The first year on the new baseball facility. At the end of the season, the first team was in fifth place, the Lower Saxony Baseball Cup was defended. In the final of the German Baseball Cup, they took 3rd place.

1999 season

For the first time in the history of the Yahoos an American player, namely Jason Doll, came again to Wolfsburg to train the Yahoos and support them through play. Jason also arranged the move from Dustin Carlson to the Yahoos, who became Germany's best pitcher that season . The team reached fifth place again.

2000 season

With Steve Oleschuk the first professional trainer was engaged. Jason Akina and Greg Rogers, who did a six-month internship at Volkswagen , strengthened the team and managed to prevent direct relegation. Before the cup round it was relegation.

2001 season

Scott Hall was signed to act as player-coach. The American was mainly used as a catcher and pitcher. After a classic false start (you lost 6 games in a row) you could win the seventh game against the Bonn Capitals . On this match day, the new catcher Mike Burba joined the team. With him you won another game against the Pulheim Gophers the next day . But the upward trend should not last. In the following four games, the team won only once. At the end of the season she secured relegation.

In October, the Yahoos were able to prevail against the Bremen Dockers in the NBSV Cup final . With this victory, the Laagbergers won the cup for the fifth time in a row and thus took part in the DBV Cup 2002.

2002 season

For 2002 the Bundesliga squad had several players available. Thomas Riedner, Daniel Kadir and Ole Drews from Hamburg and Matt Pound from the USA strengthened the team this season. Scott Hall remained loyal to the Yahoos as a player-coach. Although the team played a balanced season and finished in 5th place, it was not enough for direct relegation. Matt Pound was able to build up the team after leaving the player-coach Scott Hall so that a 1st place in the relegation round and thus relegation could be achieved.

After the rise of the 2nd men in the national league, a miserable season followed. The team ended up in last place at the end of regular time. Relegation could be secured in the relegation round.

At the DBV-Pokal the yahoos reached the 4th place.

In winter, the 1st Bundesliga team had to withdraw from the active game for financial reasons.

2003 season

With the withdrawal of the 1st Bundesliga team, the decision was made to put a team in the association league together with the 2nd men and the remaining professionals. Despite the support of some ex-Bundesliga players, the season went bad. After just a few encounters, many players switched to other clubs or stopped baseball altogether. The squad was weakened and you could no longer provide a team. As a result, the team was suspended after ten games for the rest of the season.

In the NBSV Cup, the Yahoos were eliminated in the round of 16 against Dohren.

2004 season

After the bankruptcy in the association league and with only a few players in the squad, the decision was made to start a fresh start in the district league. With a "youth campaign" that was carried out in winter 2003, eight new players and even a new coach could be won. With coach Petr Sabacky and the newcomers, they dared to take the step into game operations.

With the introduction of a new logo, jerseys and caps were changed. After the end of the season, the team stayed in third place with four wins and eight losses.

The team impressed in the NBSV Cup. Due to the unexpected victory in the round of 16 against Celle and the victory of the Bremen team in the quarter-finals, the Yahoos reached 4th place in the tournament.

2005 season

Cristian Rollo decided to lead the team as coach. The team could also count on new additions in the new year. Pitcher Peter Pfeil from Celle joined the team in winter 2004 and outfielder / pitcher Michael Hörnicke also found his way to the team. With Uwe Szczepanski they lamented a failure for the season.

With a false start against Celle you went into the season. Nevertheless, the rest of the season was very successful.

The Yahoos did not take part in the NBSV Cup, but hosted the tournament with great success.

The first men make it into the national league with ten wins and one loss.

2005 season - softball

At the beginning of the year, another softball team was founded. With Andreas Huy as coach and 19 dedicated women, they started in the national league. Right from the start it turned out that these women would be right at the front. With 14 wins and 2 defeats the first women reached the second place on a par with the Lüneburgers. In a direct comparison, however, the Yahoos came up short.

The team around Coach Huy reached the semi-finals in the NBSV Cup and lost there against the SG. Bennigsen / Sehnde from.

2006 season

The 2006 season began for the Yahoos' first men's team with an NBSV cup game against Buxtehude. The Yahoos received active support through the return of Thorsten Wöhner .

The Yahoos finished the season with second place in the table and achieved their goal.

In the NBSV Cup they were eliminated in the round of 16 against the Buxtehude Hedgehogs.

2006 season - softball

The new trainer Rüdiger Funke was able to look back on a successful season for his first women. After an almost problem-free season, the softball team reached first place in the national league and rose to the association league.

In the NBSV Cup, the team led by Coach Funke reached the final and was only marginally defeated by opponents Bremen Dockers 9: 8.

2007 season

The Yahoos moved from the West open-air swimming pool to Suhler Strasse after the site was completely dug up by wild boars. Player-coach Cristian Rollo resigned and Uwe Szczepanski took over the coaching role.

The second national league season started with six defeats in a row. The first victory could be achieved in Fischbeck, with a B-team. Eight more wins and only two defeats followed. Thus, the Yahoos finished the regular season as third in the table with 8 wins and 8 defeats and missed their set season goal, the play-offs. Coach Uwe Szczepanski resigned and Dominic Stripling became player-coach.

The play-downs were canceled due to the sudden withdrawal of the two teams from Fischbeck and Buxtehude. The two teams were thus determined to be relegated to the district league.

2007 season - softball

The softball team around Rüdiger Funke disbanded at the end of 2006 after the successful season and promotion to the association league.

2008 season

During the winter break, the Yahoos were able to win over some players. Steven Herrmann, Jens Bargmann and Jose-Luis Montiel strengthened the squad for 2008. The two recovered players Daniel Varvuccio and Michael Hörnicke were also able to support the team again. The team called the play-offs as a season goal.

The new season started with a cup game against Lüneburg. The Yahoos were almost defeated by their guests 4: 6 and thus missed the quarter-finals.

The season was very positive. In the first nine games you could win seven games. In the following game days, the team showed only a poor performance. They lost five out of six games. The failure of some players and Daniel Varvuccio's broken nose could not cope with the rest of the team. The minimum number of nine players could no longer be guaranteed. There was only one decision left to deregister the team from the rest of the game.

The Yahoos took part in the “Games, Fun and Sports Days” in the CongressPark Wolfsburg in March and in the “Summer Festival” in the Allerpark in August . There the team presented itself with a mobile batting cage.
