The Wolfsgrubner Lake (also Wolfsgrubener lake or Wolfsgrubensee , Italian Lago di Costalovara ) is a lake on the Ritten in South Tyrol ( Italy ).
location
The Wolfsgrubner lake is at 1,176 m altitude in Wolfsgruben , a town between the Rittner fractions Unterinn and Oberbozen .
topography
The lake, which is divided into two roughly equal halves by a headland, is about 3.3 hectares in size and has a catchment area of 1.29 km². Its maximum depth is 4 m and thus it holds a volume of 82,500 m³.
The lake is drained by the Mühlbach , which flows into the Eisack .
ecology
The Wolfsgrubner See is classified as eutrophic due to the high inflow of nutrients . The associated strong development of algae, clouding of the water, growth of aquatic plants and the high pH value led to a bathing ban between 1990 and 2000 and made water restoration necessary. As a result, the polluted tributaries were cut off, a new tributary created, aquatic plants regularly removed and sediments removed in the years 1999–2000.
Analyzes of the water quality with regard to its suitability as a bathing lake have produced very good results in recent years.
Human use
In summer the water is used as a bathing lake, in winter as an ice rink.
