Volodymyr (bourgeois Ukrainian Віктор Маркіянович Сабодан / Wiktor Markijanowytsch Sabodan ; born November 23, 1935 in Markivtsi , Khmelnyzkyj Oblast , Ukrainian SSR ; † July 5, 2014 in Kiev , Ukraine ) was the head of the Ukrainian-Orthodox Metropolitan of Kiev and Ukraine Ukrainian Orthodox Church affiliated to the Moscow Patriarchate.

He headed the Ukrainian Orthodox Church for 22 years. As early as 2009 he waived re-election and in February 2014 he was released from office by the Holy Synod for health reasons .

In 1990 he was the opponent of Alexius II in the election of Patriarch of Moscow and the whole of Russia and thus head of the Russian Orthodox Church .
