Wolodymyr Wolodymyrowytsch Wirtschis ( Ukrainian Володимир Володимирович Вірчіс , often in the Russian form of the name Владимир Вирчис Wladimir Wirtschis ; born August 18, 1973 in Kachowka , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian heavyweight.

In 1999, Wirtschis only became a professional boxer in Ukraine at the age of 26. He suggested many of his first opponent knockout. , But had to go to make ends meet in 2003 with the first-known opponent Julius Francis.

He earned respect in 2005 by knocking out his compatriot Taras Bidenko in the last round when he was clearly behind on points. Bidenko had previously lost only once in his fourth professional fight with a point defeat against Nikolai Valujew .

In the same year, Wirtschis then controversially defeated former English champion Michael Sprott on points. He then beat Cliff Couser on points.

In 2006 he suffered a controversial point defeat against the undefeated, former amateur star Ruslan Chagayev . In the next fight he was able to box for the European Championship and defeated the defending champion Paolo Vidoz by knockout. In a World Cup elimination match of the WBC on September 27, 2008 against Juan Carlos Gómez , he lost in twelve rounds on points. Gómez, for his part, lost the subsequent fight for the WBC crown against Vitali Klitschko on March 21, 2009 by TKO in round 9.
