Cliff Couser (born May 18, 1971 in St. Louis , Missouri ) is an American heavyweight boxer. His nicknames are "Twin Tyson" and "The Black Bull".
Professional career
Cliff Couser is only six feet tall and has a strikingly similar stature to Mike Tyson , which explains his nickname "Twin Tyson". He's also got a good punch, though not as good as Tyson's. Yet he suffered many defeats; his speed and boxing technique cannot be compared to Tyson's.
Couser began his professional career in 1993 in the heavyweight division. After initial successes, the first setbacks came early on, and he was punished several times by mediocre opponents. In 2000 he competed against Clifford Etienne and was knocked out for the first time in his career. But Couser was also able to record victories against well-known boxers: In 1996, he succeeded in knocking out James Tillis , the first boxer to get by with Mike Tyson was. One of his best fights was the one against Jorge Luis González (former World Cup opponent of Riddick Bowe ), which he knocked out in just three rounds. Shortly thereafter, however, further defeats against Lance Whitaker and Wolodymyr Wirtschis and a no contest against Andrew Greeley followed .
On December 9, 2006, he boxed in Hollywood against ex-world champion Michael Moorer . Moorer, who at the time of the fight hadn't boxed for exactly two years and was also the older at 39, was seen by some critics as an outsider. Couser took his time in the fight, had a few good attacks, but was then already knocked out in the first round. This was followed by another premature defeat against Rob Calloway .
On July 7th 2007 came the highlight of Couser's career so far: He knocked out the clearly favored Monte Barrett (former World Cup opponent of Hasim Rahman and Nikolai Walujew ) in the 2nd round. It was the earliest knockout in Barrett's career.
On September 27th However, Couser then lost to Tony Thompson himself in Round 2.
