Andrew Greeley

Andrew Moran Greeley (born February 5, 1928 in Oak Park , Illinois , † May 30, 2013 in Chicago , Illinois) was an American writer , sociologist and priest of the Roman Catholic Church. He was of Irish descent .

Life

Greeley studied a. a. Theology at Archbishop Quigley Preparatory Seminar (Chicago); later he switched to the Mundelein Seminary ( University of St. Mary of the Lake ). After his exams in 1950 and 1952, he was ordained a priest in 1954 .

Immediately thereafter, Greeley worked for ten years as a pastor in the Diocese of Chicago ; most of the time in the parish of Christ the King . Parallel studied to Greeley at the city's University sociology and graduated in 1962 with its successful promotion from.

After completing his habilitation , Greeley was appointed professor of sociology at the University of Arizona and as such he advanced to Research Associate at the National Opinion Research Center affiliated with the University of Chicago after a few years .
