Wolrad Kreusler (born November 28, 1817 in Arolsen , Principality of Waldeck , † January 9, 1901 in Brandenburg an der Havel ) was a German physicist (doctor) and poet .

Life

Kreusler came from Arolsen in Waldeck. Until 1871 he worked as a rural physician and district doctor in the Sachsenhausen office.

Kreusler is u. a. The poet of the patriotic song King Wilhelm sat very cheerful , which he composed for his son Reginald and his comrades in the war of 1870/71. For this he was appointed city ​​physician and prison doctor for the city of Brandenburg an der Havel in 1871 . Kreusler was a member of the Corps Hassia Gießen and Pomerania Berlin.

Wolrad Kreusler last held the honorary title of Privy Medical Councilor . On the occasion of his 80th birthday in 1896, he was made an honorary citizen of the city of Brandenburg an der Havel.

There are monuments in his honor in Arolsen and Sachsenhausen . His tomb in the old town cemetery in Brandenburg an der Havel is maintained by the city administration. A street near the cemetery bears his name.
