The Wolsberge are the Riemberg with a height of 120.8 meters above sea level and the northwestern Wolsberg with a height of 110.4 meters. They are located in Siegburg in the Rhein-Sieg district . Like their big brother Michaelsberg, they are made of porous volcanic rock. These cones made of basaltic tuff , unique in the world , were created in the Tertiary 25 million years ago. Rock falls occur again and again through cracks in the rock . In 1989 the rotten egg was blown.

Quarry

In the Middle Ages, the easy-to-work stone was often used for shoring. The Wolsdorfer Brocken were used in the construction of the Michaelsberg Abbey , the Siegburg city wall, the Servatius Church and the Siegburg armory. Since no quarries have been allowed since 1906, there are problems with renovating the historical buildings in the proper style.

Say

As in many other places, there is a legend about Wolsberg that Emperor Barbarossa sleeps here or dwarfs lived there.
