Woman Is the Earth is an American metal band that was founded in South Dakota in 2009 and mainly works with elements of Black Metal in their music .
history
Woman Is the Earth was founded in South Dakota in 2007 and consists of singer Jon Martin, who can also be heard on electric guitar alongside Andy Martin , and drummer Jarrod Hattervig. Two years after the band was founded, Of Dirt was the first album that was recorded, produced and published on their own.
After a signature with the German record company Eisenwald Tonschmiede , which has also produced and published albums by groups from the NSBM environment such as Infaust or offers them for sale in the label shop, Woman Is the Earth released the follow-up work This Place That Contains My Spirit as a new edition. In 2014, the third album, Depths, was released, followed by the fourth album, Torch of Our Final Night , two years later . Both albums were released through Init Records .

Woman Is the Earth's music is described as atmospheric Black Metal with inserts from post-rock , but without acting as a copy of Wolves in the Throne Room . The musicians see themselves as part of the nature- loving Black Metal scene of Cascadian Black Metal , which was first introduced at a regional level by Wolves in the Throne Room and has since become a term for an entire subgenre. Compared to the aforementioned Wolves in the Throne Room, Woman Is the Earth works more with ambient-heavy passages.
In addition to the aforementioned Wolves in the Throne Room, the group was also inspired by Skagos and Alda . The songs of the group are mostly between six and ten minutes in length.
