description

The villa was built around 1841. The design probably originated from the Scottish architect John Baird . Alex Wood did the work.

Woodbank is on Partickhill Road in Partick, northwest Glasgow . The two-storey villa is designed in a classical style. A striking portico with Ionic columns emerges from the south-facing front facade . The masonry on this facade consists of polished stone blocks, while roughly hewn quarry stone was used on the remaining facades . Cornices crown the flanking windows. On the right there is another entrance door on a flat extension. This is more simply designed with flanking pilasters . On the left is the entrance gate to the garden and the outbuilding. A sculpture of a lying lion sits on it.
