World ( Albanian : Botë ) is a song by the Albanian singer Lindita Halimi , with whom she represented Albania at the Eurovision Song Contest 2017 .

Lindita Halimi participated with Botë , the Albanian version of the song, in the Albanian preliminary decision Festivali i Këngës 55 for the Eurovision Song Contest 2017. She qualified with the song for the final, which she won on December 23, 2016. On January 9, 2017 it was announced that a revised version in English would be submitted for the song contest. This version, published under the name World , was released on March 13, 2017, including a music video. A jazz version of the song was released on February 23, 2017 .

Halimi wrote the text for World together with Gerald Xhari. The song is about the difficult life in a modern world. The singer expresses her desire to be able to do something about the circumstances on earth and sings that it is almost impossible for humanity to unite in love, but that there is still hope.

music

The music for World comes from Klodian Qafoku, who already wrote the Albanian entry for the Eurovision Song Contest 2006 . The song is a classic spherical power ballad. It starts with two stanzas, after a minute the bridge follows before the chorus can be heard for the first time at 1:25. There are many long tones and the singer frequently modulates her voice. The chorus is repeated by a choir after an intermezzo and then sung a third time by Halimi until the 19-second final note.

At the Eurovision Song Contest

On January 31, 2017, Albania was drawn into the first half of the first semi-final. The starting order was published on March 31, 2017: Lindita Halimi received starting number 4. However, she did not succeed in qualifying for the final on May 13.
