World Ecological Parties

World Ecological Parties (short name: WEP , German world alliance of ecological parties , short name: WÖP ) is an international party association of ecological parties . The association was founded in November 2003 in Mainz . In April 2004 in Strasbourg the statutes were adopted and the first board was elected. The association competes with the Global Greens , in which the majority of the green parties are organized.

The WEP is particularly committed to ecological sustainability . It stands for the strengthening of democratic rights and peacebuilding measures worldwide.

Since the 2014 European elections , the members of the WEP have been represented by three members in the European Parliament .

The World Ecological Parties Youth (WEPY) is a youth organization.
