World of Tomorrow Episode Two: The Burden of Other People's Thoughts is the sequel to World of Tomorrow from 2017.

action

The action starts after the first episode. Once again, Emily Prime receives a visit from the future while playing in her room, this time from a faulty clone of hers that has burned the number six on her forehead. With the help of a new but again faulty machine, Emily Prime and No. 6 invade the consciousness of clone No. 6. The plot is told through dialogues with No. 6, which Emily Prime cannot understand, as well as memory fragments from this clone.

After the destruction of the earth announced in the first episode, several clones were created on the basis of Emily in a space laboratory, which grow up together and thus develop an awareness of one another. However, the clones are flawed and only have fragments of earlier versions of Emily. Along with clones No. 4 and 7, No. 6 passes the time in which they visit earlier versions of Emily and later versions of themselves through irresponsible time travel. In this way, the clones try to eliminate the gaps in memory, which z. B. cause uncontrollable outbursts of anger at No. 6. In doing so, however, the clones constantly tell themselves not to reminisce, as one shouldn't live in the past. No. 6 can no longer stand this way of life and tries to become at least an exact copy of Emily Prime through the machine with her visit to Emily Prime.

Another reason for # 6 going it alone when visiting Emily Prime is her desperate search for clone # 5. As children, they had developed such an intimate relationship that they both decided to swap their numbers and get clone # 5 ( Original No. 6) from now on to be called Felicia . Both are separated, however, as Felicia is used to store the memories of a wealthy family. Felicia ekes out her existence in a cold sleep capsule, which orbits an unknown red planet. Even with the help of Emily Prime, No. 6 cannot determine her whereabouts.

When Emily Prime accidentally injects an illogical thought into the logic center of No. 6, the consciousness of No. 6 suffers a catastrophic breakdown (an event that No. 6 foreseen by a fragment of memory, but was also triggered by her irresponsible actions) . Emily Prime first saves # 6 by immersing them both in the consciousness of Emily Prime, but the consciousness of # 6 is routinely reset. The machine switches itself off and the now infantile No. 6 just wants to play with young Emily Prime at her home. However, it is immediately interrupted by time travelers No. 4 and 7, who have already been looking for No. 6. Annoyed by their going it alone, they take No. 6 back with them, because "one shouldn't live in the past".
