Wu Yuang gained his first international experience at the 2015 World Youth Championships in Cali , where he was eliminated in the semifinals in 48.11 seconds. The following year he reached the U20 World Championships in Bydgoszcz also to the semi-finals, in which he was eliminated with 46.83 s. In 2018 he took part in the Asian Games in Jakarta with the Chinese 4 x 400 meter relay for the first time and finished sixth in 3: 07.16 minutes. He was also fourth in the mixed season. After the victorious Bahraines were disqualified in 2019, the bronze medal was awarded to the Chinese. The following year he won the silver medal behind the team from Japan at the Asian Championships in Doha with a new national record of 3: 03.55 minutes.
