Wulf Rüdiger Brocke

Wulf Rüdiger Brocke (* 1946 in Nortorf ) is a former German politician ( CDU ) in Hamburg and Lübeck .

Education and professional activities

After his studies, which he graduated with a degree in social economics, Brocke trained as an editor at the newspaper Die Welt .

Political career

During his studies, Brocke was a member of the National Democratic University Association in the early 1970s . In 1975 he joined the CDU and in the same year became an employee of the parliamentary group chairman in the Hamburg Parliament, Jürgen Echternach . From 1978 Brocke was parliamentary group leader and after the parliamentary elections in June 1982 parliamentary director of the CDU parliamentary group. From 1982 to 1985 Brocke was a member of the Hamburg parliament himself , after which he became manager of the CDU parliamentary group in the Lübeck parliament from 1985 to 1987. After moving to Lübeck, he was elected to the Lübeck citizenship in 1986, where he remained until 1990. From 1987 to 2001 he was regional manager of the Hamburg CDU. He was the CDU election campaign leader in numerous state and federal elections in Hamburg. In 2001 he organized the CDU's citizenship election campaign. The result made it possible for the Hamburg CDU and Ole von Beust, together with the Schill Party and the FDP, to replace the SPD Senate after 44 years. In the spring of the previous year, Brocke had announced his move to the Konrad Adenauer Foundation on his own initiative.

In 2001 Brocke became head of the office of the Konrad Adenauer Foundation in Sofia and later became the country officer of this CDU-affiliated foundation. In 2005 Brocke was originally elected from this position as a CDU candidate for the mayor's office in Lübeck, but was later not nominated by the CDU. In the late summer of 2005, Brocke left the Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung at his own request. He is the author of two books about his hometown Nortorf and has written a book about the politician Jürgen Echternach . In 2009 he founded the "School of Democracy" in Sofia (Bulgaria).
