Wuppertal -axis is a project in Wuppertal , which simulates the valley axis of the city along the Wupper including the railway , suspension railway , tram and mountain railway on a scale of 1:87.

The urban development situation is shown shortly after the merger of Elberfeld and Barmens in the 1930s. Old maps, aerial photographs and cityscapes were used for the reconstruction . The rail traffic is represented with model trains of the size H0 .

The facility will be 140 m long and up to 13 m wide. It is created in a modular form and is accessible to the public. The project started in February 2002; in June 2007 it moved to a 300 m² workshop. In September 2007 and September 2008, the project suffered severe setbacks, as many valuable exhibits were stolen in two break-ins.

In August 2018, the Wuppertal axis moved to Goethestrasse 42 in the Vohwinkel district due to a major renovation of the former location in the August-Bünger-Textilwerk (Max-Planck-Strasse 19 in the Wichlinghausen district ) .
