Projects

Nordbahntrasse

As the largest project, the association initiated the successful conversion of the route of the disused 22 kilometer long Wuppertaler Nordbahn - section of the Düsseldorf-Derendorf – Dortmund Süd railway line - to the pedestrian and cycle path Nordbahntrasse, acquired the subsidies and necessary own funds and the conversion partly in its own Directed.

The Wuppertal Movement eV continues to look after the Nordbahntrasse. It has contractually stipulated its permanent participation in the further development of the northern railway line with the city of Wuppertal. It organizes over 70 schools, companies and individual citizens who, as route sponsors, help to keep the northern railway route in good condition and, despite the sometimes very high use in the inner city areas, to shape the community.

Draisine and railway history

The Wuppertal Movement eV wants to keep the memory of the railway history of the route alive. At the restored former railway station Loh railway group of Wuppertal movement operates on a 1.6 km long railway track with switches and signals a trolley route . In summer, rides take place here on Sunday afternoons and by appointment and are free of charge.

Schwarzbachtrasse

As a new project, the Wuppertal movement is running the conversion of the Schwarzbach route , an approximately 2 km long branch from the northern railway line from Oberbarmen to Langerfeld , after which 50,000 citizens will have direct access to the northern railway line and thus car-free access to the Wuppertal centers of Barmen and Elberfeld will be. The Wuppertal Movement eV prepared the planning, received funding from the Federal Environment Ministry and is currently preparing the renovation as the client until the end of 2018.
