Carsten Gerhardt

Carsten Gerhardt (* 1968 in Wuppertal ) is a German management consultant and initiator and chairman of the Wuppertal movement .

Life

Carsten Gerhardt studied physics, mathematics and English at the University of Wuppertal and at Bethel College in Kansas . He then obtained his doctorate in theoretical solid-state physics from the University of Laval in Québec and the University of Wuppertal. He also completed a distance learning course in economics .

From 1998 Gerhardt worked as a management consultant for the Boston Consulting Group . In 2008 he moved to the extended management of the AT Kearney consultancy , where he is responsible for sustainability .

Gerhardt is the initiator and chairman of the Wuppertal Movement Association, which has existed since 2006 . The main goal of the association is to reactivate the disused northern railway line running through Wuppertal as a cycle and leisure route, which was opened to the public in 2014 for continuous use. The project was awarded the German Bicycle Prize in 2015 in the “Infrastructure” category.

In 2016 Gerhardt was awarded the Ring of Honor of the City of Wuppertal for his commitment . In 2017, the Landschaftsverband Rheinland awarded Gerhardt for his commitment in the field of landscape maintenance and culture with the Rhineland thaler.
