The WSW Wuppertaler Stadtwerke GmbH (WSW) is the holding of municipal utilities and transport service company of the city of Wuppertal . The city of Wuppertal has been the main owner with 99.4% of the shares since 2007. The Ennepe-Ruhr-Kreis holds 0.6%. GDF Suez Energie Deutschland AG has held a 33.1% stake in WSW Energie & Wasser AG since 2009 .

The WSW group has around 3300 employees (2018).

Business activity

The company's business activities are divided into the sectors of energy ( electricity , gas , district heating ) and drinking water supply , local public transport , urban drainage and municipal waste disposal .
