history

The State of Wyoming's first agricultural fair was held near Cheyenne in 1886 as the First Annual Wyoming Territorial Fair . In the following years there were similar events in Laramie , Sheridan and Casper . After Douglas became the venue in 1905, the event eventually stayed there. Only in the years 1935 to 1937 were there no exhibitions because of the financial bottlenecks during the Depression and in the years 1942 to 1945 because of the Second World War .
