Converse County is a county in the state of Wyoming in the United States . At the 2010 census , the population was 13,833. The county seat is Douglas .

The county is bordered clockwise by the counties: Campbell County , Weston County , Niobrara County , Platte County , Albany County , Carbon County , Natrona County, and Johnson County .

history

Converse County was founded on March 9, 1888. It was named after Amasa R. Converse , an American pioneer and banker from Wyoming.

Converse County had a population of 12,052 people as of the 2000 census . There were 4,694 households and 3407 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.72% White, 0.15% African American, 0.91% Native American, 0.27% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, and 2.46% other races Groups; 1.47% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 5.48% percent of the population.
