The Fremont County is a county in the US state of Wyoming . At the 2010 census , the population was 40,123 people. The county seat is Lander .

According to the US Census, the county covers an area of 23,998 square kilometers; 216 square kilometers of this is water. Fremont County is bordered to the north by Hot Springs County , to the northeast by Washakie County , to the east by Natrona County , to the southeast by Carbon County , to the south by Sweetwater County , to the west by Sublette County, and to the northwest by Teton County and Park County .
history
Fremont County was founded in 1884. The county was named after the explorer and politician John Charles Fremont . It is the historic area of the Wind River Indian Reservation and home to the Shoshone and Arapaho Indians.
Historical objects
In Fort Washakie is the historic Fort Washakie Historic District . The area is within the Wind River Indian Reservation on US Route 287 . The Fort Washakie Historic District comprises 36 buildings and was listed on April 16, 1969 by the National Register of Historic Places as a Historic Monument with the number 69000188.

Fremont County's population was 35,804 as of the 2000 census . There were 13,545 households and 9481 families. The population density was 2 people per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 76.49% White, 0.12% African American, 19.68% Native American, 0.30% Asian, 0.03% Pacific Islander, and 1.16% other races Groups; 2.21% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 4.37% percent of the population.
Of the 13,545 households, 32.20% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 54.30% were married couples living together, 10.90% percent were a single mother, 30.00% were non-families. 25.50% were single households and 10.00% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.58 and the average family size was 3.10 people.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 27.40% of residents under 18 years of age, 8.30% between 18 and 24 years of age, 25.90% between 25 and 44 years of age, 25.00% between 45 and 64 years of age 13.30% were 65 years of age or over. The median age was 38 years. For every 100 females there were 98.20 males, and for every 100 females aged 18 and over there were 95.40 males.
The median income for a household in the county is $ 32,503 , and the median income for a family is 37,983. USD. Males had a median income of $ 30,620 versus $ 19,802 for females.
