The Boysen State Park is a state park near the town of Shoshoni in Fremont County , in the center of the US state of Wyoming . The heart of the park is the Boysen Reservoir , a reservoir at the southern foot of the Owl Creek Mountains , which is formed by the Boysen Dam at the entrance to the Wind River Canyon .
history
With the construction of the first dam, which the waters of the Wind River dammed and an attached hydroelectric power plant , the power of 710 kilowatts reached, was founded in 1908 by Asmus Boysen started. Today's park is named after him. The electricity generated here was mainly used to operate the surrounding mines. Electricity generation ceased in 1923 after a flood destroyed the power station. Remnants of the old dam can still be seen today. The current dam was completed in 1951; the power plant has an output of 15,000 kilowatts. The park was inaugurated in 1956.
