history
The area around the Hawk Springs reservoir was heavily frequented by visitors. The Wyoming Game & Fish Department began regulating the situation and provided picnic tables and barbecue areas, a boat ramp and two toilets. In 1987, the Wyoming Recreation Commission agreed to oversee the Hawk Springs State Recreation Area thus established on the banks of the reservoir, while the Wyoming Game & Fish Department continues to be responsible for water use and fish stocks.
