Washakie County is a county in the state of Wyoming in the United States . At the 2010 census , Washakie County had 8,533 residents. The county seat is Worland .

The county covers an area of 5,809 square kilometers; 7 square kilometers of it are water surfaces. It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Big Horn County , Johnson County , Natrona County , Fremont County , Hot Springs County, and Park County .
history
The county was established in 1911. It was named after the Indian chief Washakie .

Washakie County's population was 8,289 as of the 2000 census . There were 3,278 households and 2,310 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.22% White, 0.11% African American, 0.55% Native American, 0.74% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, and 6.21% other races Groups; 2.17% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 11.47% percent of the population.
Of the 3,278 households, 32.40% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 59.90% were married couples living together, 7.30% percent were single mothers, 29.50% were non-families. 26.50% were single households and 11.90% had someone living there who was 65 years of age or over.
