Big Horn County is a county in the state of Wyoming in the United States . At the 2010 census , the county had 11,668 residents. The county seat is Basin .

The county borders the counties in a clockwise direction: Big Horn County Montana , Carbon County Montana , Sheridan County , Johnson County , Washakie County, and Park County .

As of the 2000 census , Big Horn County's population was 11,461. There were 4,312 households and 3,087 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 94.03% white, 0.11% African American, 0.75% Native American, 0.21% Asian, 0.07% Pacific islander and 3.37% from other races Groups; 1.46% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 6.17% percent of the population.
Of the 4,312 households, 32.50% had children and adolescents under the age of 18 living with them. 61.00% were married couples living together, 6.80% percent were a single mother, 28.40% were non-families. 25.00% were single households and 11.90% had someone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.6 and the average family size was 3.13.
For the entire county, the population was composed of 28.70% of residents under 18 years of age, 7.30% between 18 and 24 years of age, 22.60% between 25 and 44 years of age, 24.60% between 45 and 64 years of age 16.80% were 65 years of age or over.
