Carbon County's population was 15,639 as of the 2000 census . There were 6,129 households and 4,130 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.11% White, 0.67% African American, 1.27% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 5.17% other races Groups; 2.05% were from two or more races.
