Carbon County is a county in the state of Wyoming in the United States . At the 2010 census , Carbon County had 15,885 residents. The county seat is Rawlins .

It is bordered clockwise by the counties: Natrona County , Converse County , Albany County , Jackson County, Colorado, Routt County, Colorado, Moffat County, Colorado, Sweetwater County, and Freemont County .

Carbon County's population was 15,639 as of the 2000 census . There were 6,129 households and 4,130 families. The population density was 1 person per square kilometer. The racial the population was composed of 90.11% White, 0.67% African American, 1.27% Native American, 0.67% Asian, 0.06% Pacific Islander, and 5.17% other races Groups; 2.05% were from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race was 13.83% percent of the population.

Of the 6,129 households, 31.20% had children and young people under the age of 18 living with them. 55.10% were married couples living together, 8.30% percent were single mothers, 32.60% were non-families. 27.50% are single households and 9.60% have someone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.39 and the average family size was 2.91 people.
