Xavier Mauméjean (born December 30, 1963 in Biarritz ) is a French writer best known for writing science fiction , fantasy and crime novels .

Life

Mauméjean studied philosophy and religious studies . In 2000 his first novel, Les Mémoires de l'Homme-Éléphant , was published, which received the novel prize at the Fantastic'art Festival in Gérardmer . He was the editor of several book series, including La Bibliothèque rouge at Les Moutons électriques (2005–2012), the youth book series Royaumes Perdus (2007–2010) and Mondes imaginaires (2019–2013) published by Éditions Mango and the Pandore series at Éditions Le Pré aux clercs (2012-2014).

In 2004 the uchronistic novel La Vénus anatomique appeared , in which the philosopher La Mettrie, together with the inventor Vaucanson , the anatomist Fragonard and Casanova, work as agents of the king and create an artificial woman. The novel was awarded the prestigious Prix ​​Rosny aîné in 2005.

In 2008, Mauméjean and Stéphane Boillot received the Grand Prix de l'Imaginaire for the novel Bloodsilver , which was published under the community pseudonym Wayne Barrow. Mauméjean is also the author of numerous radio plays that have been broadcast on France Culture .

Mauméjean lives with his wife and a daughter in Valenciennes in northern France, where he teaches philosophy at the local high school.
