Xavier Pascual i Fuertes (born March 8, 1968 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish handball coach and former handball player .
Career
- as a player
The handball goalkeeper began his career in the youth department of FC Barcelona . In the 1986/87 season he made his debut in the ASOBAL league . After two years at BM Palautordera, he returned as the third goalkeeper and won several titles, including the 1990/91 European Cup . In his other stations he was largely unsuccessful. With Octavio Pilotes Posada , he was promoted from the second division to the ASOBAL league in 2002/03 . In 2005 he ended his playing career.
- as a trainer
After ending his playing career, he became a goalkeeping coach at Barca in 2005 . A year later he also took over the post of youth coordinator. In 2008 he became assistant coach under Manolo Cadenas , before he was promoted to head coach in February 2009 after his expulsion. Since then he has won all Spanish titles as well as the EHF Champions League and the Super Globe . From June 2016 to June 2018 he also coached the Romanian national team .
