Xavier Rudd (born May 29, 1978 in Torquay , Victoria ) is an Australian singer , songwriter and multi-instrumentalist .

He became known to a larger audience in Australia and North America primarily through his live performances at many festivals and concerts. In many of his songs, Rudd addresses social and societal issues, conservation issues and the rights of Aborigines . In addition to playing the didgeridoo , he also integrated Australian and Canadian Aboriginal vocals into his songs. He recorded his 2010 album Kooyum Sun with the South African musicians of the band Izintaba .

Life

Xavier Rudd grew up in his native Torquay, Victoria. He is the father of two sons, Joaquin and Finojet, and owns the management agency Thompson Management based in Vancouver . He now lives in Bells Beach in Victoria .
Xavier Rudd is a vegetarian and was nominated for the 2007 World's Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity Award from the animal welfare organization PETA . He supports Sea Shepherd.
