Xenon was a rock band from Miesbach , which became known mainly in Bavaria and Austria in the years after the Neue Deutsche Welle .

history

In 1985 some members of various district bands got together to set up their own project. Klaus Kronen ( bass ), Georg “Girgl” Joannidis ( drums ) and Rainer Schmidt as “Smaff” ( guitar ) founded the band Xenon. The experienced Gerhard “Goofy” Eichner was accepted into the band as singer. After a few months, due to a newspaper advertisement, guitarist Stefan "Radi" Buchner joined them. A few weeks later, keyboardist Wolfgang “Schmalzi” Mucha completed the band.

With this line-up they played a demo with which they participated in the biggest band competition in Bavaria (newcomers) organized by Munich's largest concert promoter "Voices of the World" and the Munich tabloid "AZ". The band was invited as one of six bands to the winner's concert in the Munich Olympiahalle.

At this time, the decision was made to only write their own songs and that with Bavarian lyrics. During the preparations for the "winner's concert", Werner Kolb joined in as the second keyboard player and background singer, with whom the demo recordings were already being made.

In the period after that, the band played in Bavaria and performed at many festivals and individual concerts. Kolb left his position as keyboard player and background singer in the band a year later and took over the position behind the mixer . In the summer of 1988, the drummer Joannidis left the band and formed the band Red Rooster. After a short search, a new drummer was found in Andy Hiermaier.

The second studio production was recorded with him. It took a record 16 months to record two songs. Andy Hiermaier then left the band. Uli Jenne replaced him as drummer. Two weeks after joining, Rainer Schmidt suddenly died of heart failure. After difficult deliberations, the band decided to continue.

Wolfgang Hierl played and sang for Schmidt. This was also the line-up for the first CD Fuatfahrn , which was recorded and mixed in the Ample studio in Weßling. For the first time, a committed publisher was found that also took over distribution for Germany and found a distribution partner for Austria. Although the CD sold very well, the Austrian distributor filed for bankruptcy nine months later . Nevertheless, the LP managed to place itself on first place in the rock music charts of the German Rock Musicians Association.

In the middle of 1993, drummer Jenne left the band. A short time later, guitarist Hierl also left the band. With Rainer Linseisen on drums and Thomas Sittig on guitar and backing vocals, these positions were filled again a little later.

Rehearsals for the second CD began. After founding member Kronen left the band, Edi Effenberger completed the band. He had already jumped in on a concert tour to Croatia.

Originally conceived as a live and studio CD, the live part of the new CD was dropped very quickly, as the material recorded during several days of appearances in a club was destroyed. In 1996 the CD Haberfeldtreib'n came out. This was more commercially successful than the first CD.

In the following year Sittig left the band and Willi Knies now played guitar for him.

From the turn of the millennium, the group only gave sporadic concerts and the band was broken up in 2003 after one concert.
