Xenon Racer is a racing game that was developed by the Italian developer 3DClouds and published by Soedesco on March 26, 2019 for Microsoft Windows , PlayStation 4 , Xbox One and Nintendo Switch .

Game principle and plot

Xenon Racer is a racing game set in 2030. The game contains a total of seven tracks that are set in different locations around the world. Players will drive the last cars in the world as cars will be completely replaced by flying vehicles in 2030, according to the game.

Xenon Racer was often compared to other games from popular racing game series such as F-Zero , Wipeout and Fast RMX in its early development phase .

In February 2019 Soedesco announced a partnership with the Canadian record label Monstercat to bring part of the label's music library into play.

As engine that comes Unreal Engine 4 is used.

On the rating website Metacritic , the PS4 version of the game - based on 14 ratings - has a Metascore of 64 out of 100 possible points.

The German-language online computer game magazine 4Players criticized the poor technical implementation of the console versions. Even on the two most powerful game consoles to date, Xbox One X and PlayStation 4 Pro, the game ran in performance mode "only with unpleasant graphical flaws." Furthermore, the textures of the PS4 Pro version of the game were even quality Mode very fuzzy. The Nintendo Switch version of the game was rated 18 out of 100 points by the magazine and described as "not [...] reasonably playable [...]".
