Xi'an guyue

Xi'an guyue ( Chinese  西安 鼓乐 , Pinyin Xī'ān gǔyuè ) is a collective name for lively folk music traditions in the area of Xi'an in the Chinese province of Shaanxi , which can be traced back to the Tang and Song times. The instrumental music is performed with drums , pair cymbals and wind instruments ; the drums dominate.

The population uses regional names. Paragraphs of musical styles in literature include: X'ian drum music, X'ian drum and brass music, ancient music of X'ian, Shaanxi drum music, and ceremonial music of X'ian.

The most famous ensembles are there in the village Hejiaying , county Chang'an , in the village Nanjixian in circles Zhouzhi and in county Lantian .

Xi'an guyue was included in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009 . The Chinese musicologist Li Shige has pointed out the possible relationship of the Gagaku .
