Xiomara Rivero

Xiomara Rivero ( Xiomara Rivero Azcuy; born December 24, 1968 in Pinar del Río ) is a former Cuban javelin thrower .

In 1986 she won the World Junior Athletics Championships in Athens .

She won silver at the Central American and Caribbean Games in 1993.

In 1995 she won the Pan American Games in Mar del Plata and was eliminated from the qualification at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg .

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, she was fifth.

In 1999 she won silver at the Pan American Games in Winnipeg and failed in the preliminary round at the World Cup in Seville .

In 2000 she won the Ibero-American Championships and was sixth at the Olympic Games in Sydney . A seventh place at the 2001 World Championships in Edmonton was followed by silver at the 2002 Ibero-American Championships.
