Xu Yan (judoka)

Xu Yan ( Chinese  许 岩 ; born November 4, 1981 in Beijing ) is a former Chinese judoka who was third in the 2008 Olympic lightweight, the weight class up to 57 kilograms.

The 1.66 m tall Xu Yan won the 2002 student world championships. In 2003 she finished seventh at the World Championships in Osaka . In the same year she was fifth in the Asian Championships.

At the Asian Games in 2006 , she won the title by beating the Japanese Aiko Sato in the final . The following year she reached the final of the Asian Championships, where she was defeated by Aiko Satō. Aiko Satō and Xu Yan also met in the quarter-finals of the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, the Chinese won with a Yuko rating. In the semifinals she lost to the Dutchwoman Deborah Gravenstijn with Waza-ari. The Chinese won the battle for a bronze medal against the French Barbara Harel after 2:09 minutes.
