Xuan Bello

Xuan Bello Fernán (* 1965 in Tinéu , Asturias ) is a Spanish poet, writer and translator who writes in Spanish and Asturian .

Life

At the age of 16 he published his first volume of poetry, Nel cuartu mariellu . He studied at the Faculty of Philology at the University of Oviedo and was able to establish contacts with writers such as Antón García , José Luis García Martín , Víctor Botas , Berta Piñán , Fonsu Velázquez , Xuan Ignaciu Llope and José Luis Piquero . He wrote for the literary magazines Lletres asturianes , Clarín and Adréi .

Bello is considered to be one of the most important contemporary Asturian writers. In 2010 he received the Premiu de la Crítica RPA (Critics' Prize for Literature of the Radiotelevisión del Principado de Asturias) for the collection of poetry Ambos mundus , in 2017 he was awarded the Premiu Nacional de Lliteratura Asturiana for his literary work in Asturian.

Bello is a Corresponding Member of the Academia de la Llingua Asturiana (ALLA).
