Yannick Bellon

Yannick Bellon (born April 6, 1924 as Marie-Annick Bellon in Biarritz ; † June 2, 2019 ) was a French director and film editor .

Life

Yannick Bellon was the daughter of the photographer Denise Bellon (1902–1999) and the magistrate (lawyer) Jacques Bellon. The actress and author Loleh Bellon (1925–1999) was her sister.

Between 1947 and 1963, Yannick Bellon was alternately with the assembly of feature films - among others by Pierre Kast - and the realization of short films busy. After various television productions in the 1960s, she produced her own first feature film in the early 1970s: Quelque part quelqu'un (1972). Seven more feature films and a short film followed by 1991. With around two million cinema admissions, The End of the Night (1978) was Bellon's most successful feature film.

In Bellon's films, various subjects are dealt with by depicting various subjects in society. In L'amour violé, for example, the viewer is encouraged to think about the problem of rape (and in particular the social character and motivation of its perpetrators). Further topics are the problems of cancer, homosexuality, delinquency and, towards the end of her creative period, ecology. A didactic intention is always recognizable in these theses .
