Yelle
Yelle (* 17th January 1983 as Julie Budet in Saint-Brieuc ) is a French singer .
Her stage name is an acronym for "You enjoy life".
Their music is a combination of modern electro and typical 80s synth sounds , which is also reflected in their garish appearance.
Career
Julie Budet was born and lives in Saint-Brieuc in Brittany . Thanks to her father, a well-known musician in her home region, she grew up with music and learned to play the piano at an early age.
After performing with various bands, in 2002 she met GrandManier , a student with a penchant for electronic music who had already worked with various bands in the electronic field.
Together they recorded the song Short Dick Cuizi in 2006 , which is called Je veux te voir in the final single and album version , and published it on Myspace . In the song they make fun of Cuizinier , a member of the Parisian hip-hop band TTC . Initially recorded on a whim, Short Dick Cuizi quickly gained notoriety with around 1000 views a day. Offers from concert agencies followed, so that their level of awareness spread beyond Myspace.
In October 2007 Yelle appeared on the European tour of the British singer Mika . This is how she became known in the German-speaking area, and a club tour through Germany followed in March 2008.
In 2007, the single À cause des garçons from their later debut album Pop-Up was released . At the end of 2007 she worked with Michaël Youn alias Fatal Bazooka and with him and the song Parle à ma main in France she was able to stay at the top of the single charts there for several weeks . A re-release of À cause des garçons made it into the top 20. In spring 2008, a re-release of Je veux te voir reached the top five of the French charts. A remix version of À cause des garçons was used as a song for the game Need for Speed: ProStreet .
On April 1, 2008, Pop-Up was released in the USA and, supported by the promotion of MTV , reached number eight on Billboard's top electronic albums. This was followed by a tour of the USA at the end of April.
Since 2008, Yelle has occasionally been seen as an actress. In 2017/2018 she appeared in the miniseries I love you! in appearance.
