YEN is a German rock band .
history
YEN came into being through a chance meeting of the singer Yen-Hwei Anetzberger and the guitarist Christian Fütterer at the end of 2003. Yen had some lyrics and Christian a band called Skrunge, which he had built up together with his brother and bassist Steffen and the drummer Benjamin. After the first successful rehearsals for four, it was decided in early 2004 to continue working as a band under the name YEN. In 2006 YEN were nominated for the German Rock and Pop Prize. In 2007, singer Yen appeared in the finals of the last 20 of Stefan Raab's music show SSDSDSSWEMUGABRTLAD . To date, YEN have released three albums and three singles on the Frankfurt indie label MX-Records .
YEN also took part on the first album of the band ESCHENBACH, which was produced by Stephan Weidner and was released in November 2009, with the song "Ask Dich Selbst". Due to the positive feedback on the track, Yen also contributed background vocals to the songs "Sterne", "Nobody Here" and "Hafen" for the CD "Autonomie" by Stephan Weidner.

The English-language lyrics by singer Yen are mostly autobiographical and form the central theme that runs through the songs. Longing is a central theme. Generally committed to the rock and alternative genre, YEN also venture into more popping realms on their releases. This is how the latest single Deep Space Night was created in collaboration with the Mannheim music producer and songwriter Philippe van Eecke , who otherwise composes for artists such as Xavier Naidoo or Yvonne Catterfeld .
At the end of August 2009 the first unplugged record was released under the name "Sofa - so good" and can be seen as an homage to their guerrilla tour during the summer months. YEN toured with a specially constructed sofa on casters through Germany and occupied pedestrian zones and city beaches. Like its predecessors, the album was released on the German label MX Records.
